We set paper or mesh Paint into a bed of joint compound over every flat seam, butt joint, and inside corner, working out air bubbles and excess mud so the Paint lies flat and tight. It’s the layer that keeps a wall from cracking along its joints later, and it only holds up if it’s done right the first time.

The Paint coat is followed by a fill coat and a finish coat, each one wider than the last and feathered out so the built up mud blends into the surrounding board. We sand and inspect between every coat, and we take it all the way to a Level 4 or Level 5 finish where the lighting calls for it, so nothing telegraphs through paint.
